Border Guards use ECOTEST TM dosimeter to detect violations in the radiation-contaminated area

The website of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine published news about a man who was picking blueberries in a radiation-contaminated area. He was found by officers of the Border Guard Service together with the National Police.

A resident of a village in the Zhytomyr Region illegally entered the exclusion zone to pick blueberries. He intended to sell these berries. The radiation background of the territory within which the man was found was more than four times higher than the permissible norm. Individual dosimeters of border guards reached the mark of 1.36 μSv/h when the norm is 0.30 μSv/h.

The offender received a protocol under the article “Violation of the requirements of the radiation safety regime in areas that have been exposed to radioactive contamination”. Harvested blueberries, weighing a total of 10 kg, were removed.
